Paula Harris & Blu Gruv finished third overall in the 2012 International Blues Challenge (IBC) finals in Memphis (held 2/4/2012). What a great showing! With 110 bands in the challenge, this was no small feat. Come congratulate Paula and the guys at the Club Fox Jam in Redwood City on Wednesday, February 8 at 7 pm. The Golden Gate Blues Society is sponsoring the host band Paula Harris & Blu Gruv.

We'd like to express sincere pride in both of our entries this year. Wendy DeWitt and Kirk Harwood were impressive and talented professionals in the solo/duo category. Paula Harris & Blu Gruv finished 3rd out of 9 finalists in the band category. Great job everyone. You made us proud!

Band Winners - Goin’ to Memphis!

Congratulations to Paula Harris & Blu Gruv!

The Golden Gate Blues Society concluded its International Blues Challenge for 2012 and the winning band, Paula Harris & Blu Gruv, will represent us at The Blues Foundation’s IBC in Memphis, TN in February 2012. The final event on November 13, 2011 was an outstanding day of great music from four bands and we want to thank them all for participating—Pinkie Rideau & Blind Resistance, the David Landon Band, the Delta Wires, and Paula Harris & Blu Gruv. It was a sold-out show at Biscuits and Blues in San Francisco and our sincere thanks goes out to the club and their staff who went out of their way to make this a wonderful event. We also appreciate the efforts of our esteemed panel of Judges, Sista Monica Parker, Lee Hildebrand and Frank DeRose.

Solo/Duo Winners - Goin' to Memphis!

Wendy DeWitt and Kirk Harwood were the winners of the Solo/Duo International Blues Challenge held on October 1st at The Grand Dell Saloon in Campbell. They will represent TGGBS at The Blues Foundation’s Solo/Duo International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN, in February 2012. Congratulations!

We want to thank the other three acts for a splendid day of blues: The Fritz Brothers, Cleome, and Scott Miller. And The Grand Dell Saloon's hospitality was much appreciated.

Round Four Winner!

The Delta Wires are the winner of the 4th preliminary round of the International Blues Challenge held on September 18th at Biscuits and Blues in San Francisco.

We sincerely thank the Eddie Neon Band and Mari Mack & Livin’ Like Kings for their fine performances. And of course Biscuits and Blues for their hospitality and support.

It was a spectacular day at Club Fox with three tremendously talented bands. We want to thank the Kathy Tejcka Band, and the GG Amos Band for their participation. Also many thanks to Club Fox.

Round Two Winner!

Congratulations to The David Landon Band, winner of TGGBS's second round of the 2012 International Blues Challenge. The event was held August 7, 2011 at Bluz By you, Santa Clara, CA.

It was a fun day and we also thank the bands Smokin’ Kingsnakes and Goodlife Rhythm and Blues Revue for their excellent performances! And thank you to Bluz By you for their hospitality.

Congrats to Pinkie Rideau & Blind Resistance, winner of TGGBS's first round of the 2012 International Blues Challenge, which was held July 17, 2011 at The Poor House Bistro, San Jose, CA.

We also want to thank the other two bands, Nancy Wenstrom & Blues Kitchen and Kickin’ the Mule for their wonderful performances! And thank you to The Poor House for their support.
